Channel block

A channel block is a defined slice of the radio spectrum used for DAB+. Each block carries one multiplex and is named like 12A.

A channel block is a fixed section of the frequency range reserved for DAB+. Each block can carry one multiplex, a bundle of stations. Blocks have short names made of a number and a letter, such as 12A or 12C.

The radio looks for the multiplexes in these blocks during a station scan, and the listener never has to enter a block name by hand. A broadcaster uses the block it has been assigned. WorldDAB lists the blocks used by Swiss ensembles, though that is an industry source.

The name matters mostly to engineers and to people who check coverage in detail. For everyday listening the station list is enough.
