Firmware
Firmware is the built-in software of a device such as a radio. Updates can fix faults or add features.
Firmware is the software stored inside a device, which runs its basic functions. In a radio it controls the display, the tuner and the station scan.
Some radios and adapters can be updated, usually over Wi-Fi or by USB. An update can fix a fault, such as a radio that drops stations, or add a feature. Whether a given model gets updates depends on the maker, and many simple radios never receive any.
If a radio behaves oddly, a factory reset is the first step, as dabplus.ch advises. Firmware updates are a further step, and the manual says whether the model supports them.
