Tuner

The tuner is the part of a radio that selects a station from the antenna signals. A DAB+ radio also has an FM tuner.

The tuner is the part of a radio that picks one station out of all the signals arriving at the antenna. On FM it locks onto a single frequency. A DAB+ tuner locks onto a block and then selects a programme from the multiplex.

According to dabplus.ch, every DAB+ radio also contains an FM tuner. A radio with both can play either system, which is useful while FM and DAB+ run side by side.

A weak tuner or a poor antenna shows up as dropouts or a short station list. If a friend’s radio finds stations in the same room, the first suspect is the antenna, then the tuner.
